Here we are. Another week of Recreate It posts. I hope you guys are enjoying this series as much as Bre and I are. If you’d like to see something in particular, don’t hesitate to shoot us a note. I’m really fond of this week’s color palette and font choices. The fonts used are my two “Go To” fonts I use on a regular basis. I love the contrast of chunky Bondi with feminine Helvetica Neue Ultra Light. Try combining the two typefaces. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed ;)

Welcome back Moxee readers! I hope 2012 is treating you swell so far. I’m exciting to get back to my regular blogging schedule and creating new Recreate It post with Bre. I’ve altered my design template just a bit for a little change of pace. This week’s post hopefully will inspire you to create unique page layouts when you are faced with product photography. To create this look, you need products shot on white backgrounds, minimal copy, an open mind. Try using overlapping (multiplied) color to add some depth and texture to the piece. Have some fun with it. There are no rules!!

The color in this week’s “Recreate It” was pulled from one of my favorite online magazines called Sweet Paul. It’s a fabulous collection on visual goodies, recipes, DIYs and more and it’s beautifully laid out.
Sweet Paul magazine definitely understands the importance of typography and plays around with new treatments to keep things interesting. I just love how this simple recipe was transformed with the playful use of typography.

The color in this week’s Recreate It post makes me really happy and brings floods of summery things back to my memory. I also loved how a simple handwritten font and splash of ink made this entire spread come to life. The smallest details can sometimes make the biggest impact in design.
Below I have provided the link to the ink splatters used in the last portion of this post. You can download the photoshop brush set for free and give it a try!

This week’s Recreate It post gets a little crafty. Interviews can be tricky topics to show in a visual page layout. Usually there is a lot of information that covers a wide range of material. I thought this particular page layout showing interview questions and photos was done nicely. The spread has lots of character that fits the personality of the people being interviewed.
I would suggest keeping the type treatment for interviews very clean and simple, so the content photos can speak for themes and add to what the people being interviewed are saying. That was a doozy. Give it a try!

It’s me again, Cassie from The Veda House and this week’s Recreate It post highlights a typographic treatment that gets me excited. I love when I see a design strip a design to its bare essentials and use typography as a main visual element. You don’t always have to have a photo or illustration to accompany your story, just something that is visually interesting and something that draws readers in.

Here we are at week 6!!! This week is my favorite so far and I could see you having a lot of fun playing with this layout style. This page layout comes from the loved magazine for fashion and culture, Nylon Magazine. Although this particular layout dates all the way back to 2008, the design style is classic. I love the use of color with photography. Don’t forget, you can make a large statement by using a unique typeface paired with geometric color blocking.

Wow. Week 5 already! Where is time going?
This week’s layout is all about simplicity and letting images speak for themselves. If you are doing a page layout for a shopping magazine, you may only need product prices and minimal details to tell the full story. Using a unified color palette also helps bring a collage type layout together so it doesn’t feel random and cluttered. Try it out and see what happens!
