green weekend

During the winter months, I like to complain about how cold it is and all ( yeah, yeah, yeah ) … but you know what? I don’t know if I could live in a climate that didn’t have winter + snow. I know 3 months ago I wouldn’t be caught dead saying this, but even then, it’s true. The midwest was hit with an early spring this year, thankfully, and it reminded me about one of the reasons why I love it up here so much. The spring sparkle! Whenever it first hits 50-60 degrees, windows open, jackets are nowhere to be found, and absolutely everyone spends as much time as possible outside. I find it funny because people from the Southern states would most likely be all bundled up and think we’re crazy. Either way, it’s a special time around here and I’ve been enjoying it as much as possible.

With that said, I definitely busted out both my pink and green pants this weekend as I felt it was 100% appropriate. I ate outside, walked barefoot in the almost* green grass, worked with my windows open, and was all smiles. You could say I’m pretty happy with life these days!

On Saturday, Michael and I had an all day date where we walked around Minneapolis for 9.5 miles. Yikes. Although my feet + legs are completely sore now, it was worth it. We started off by walking around Lake Harriet, where we took notes on what kind of dogs we each like. Afterwards, we ended up downtown in the midst of a sea of green where we rested in the sunshine. By dinner time, we ended up north of the cities where we had a Mexican picnic on a grassy rooftop. Since I knew I had burned a lot of calories walking, I decided we needed shakes, too. It was the perfect day for a spring time lovin’ foodie and her guy!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend, too!

Raise your hand if you grew up with Mary Kate and Ashley! Yeah … me too. And I think these photos of them for Elle UK are absolutely gorgeous. They really have turned into style icons, which is neat to see since we grew up with them on screen and all. Plus, I just really want to wear that top dress to the fanciest event ever.

Linum is a French based linens company that has a focus on the Swedish design aesthetic paired with the tradition of Indian expertise. As a result, their fabrics have such an eclectic and beautiful quality about them! Plus, I love how they have styled their photographs to show off the products. Well done, guys!

I love how many of Jonathan Marsh’s photographs become quite abstract, depending on the time of day and his focus. Honestly, a lot of really neat color palettes emerge, which I’m totally digging for inspiration myself! They have a muted spring feel, and I like that a lot.

I wanted to share with you all one of my latest projects – a branding + blog design for Rachelle Wilde, blogger for Kenzie Poo. And let’s get real here : she was such a fun client!! Honestly, after telling me her needs and discussing what direction to take her brand, she really let me go for it. The logo is custom type, hand done by myself to give off a modern and simple flair, with a hint of dip dyed pastels. For her blog, we made sure to keep that theme up for an overall cohesive package. I’m so happy to share this one with you guys! Plus, Rachelle and I are still working together on another project … more to come on that one!

This apartment, located in France, is one of the coolest things I ever did see. Mixed with dark wood, white walls, pops of pink ( of every hue ), and industrial touches, this is one of a kind. I’ve never thought of myself as much of a pink person, but when it’s done right – I go crazy. Just like this one! And that painting … sigh, so good!

Check out this collage. It’s cutout and pieced together by designer Bruno Sousa. My impatient self is pretty jealous of this piece! The colors scream out and create such a depth. I’m kinda-sorta in love!

I practiced my photography skills last week with some fresh pictures for our paper shop, complete with bright envelopes + office supplies galore!! It’s always fun to bust out my crafting supplies, which spend most of their time in dark desk drawers. So sad. I’m making it a personal goal of mine to send snail mail more often. I love receiving cards and all, but must admit, I often get too busy to sit down and write out a little note. Consider it done!
