starting fresh

If you haven’t heard/seen yet, all of moxee’s old posts have been lost into the vast world that is the internet. Yes, I definitely had a rough day yesterday and thought it was the end of the world. But it’s not. Here we are already!

This is what happened (I’ll try to keep it simple as to not bore you guys): Under my host, I had 4 separate domain names. Moxee, up until yesterday, wasn’t the “primary” domain. Because it has become such a big part of my life (and business), I wanted to change it to the primary domain on my account, for organizational purposes. After doing so, folders and all sorts of things got mismatched and out of place. Attempting to fix it only made things messier. Although I had a backup, it was also overwritten at some point. YIKES.

After being in contact with my host’s support for over five hours, being tossed around to eight different people, and not receiving one answer – I finally decided to call it quits with my host. I have been wanting to do this for some time now, and the situation kind of forced me into it. Of course, this isn’t how I would have liked everything to go down. I would LOVE to have my posts and content back, but the fact of the matter is that I can’t.

But you know what, I’m okay! It’s okay. After freaking out a little bit, I realized that what I’ve loved most about blogging here are the connections that I’ve made and talking with all of you. Sure, things are gone. But you guys aren’t (CHEESE FEST). And that is exactly why I ate some Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, got over it, got to work, and put moxee back on its feet again over night!

Luckily I had been working on a new redesign for the blog anyway, so I decided to put it up now for a fresh start. It’s not too different from what you’re used to, but different enough. I promise, moxee will keep going as usual … we just gotta get over this little hiccup.

Now if you’ll excuse me, imma go crash like that girl in the picture. It’s been a long day!

MOXEE is looking as gorgeous as it ever has! I’m sorry about all the trouble you’ve gone through with your host, I know how much of a pain that can be. A good night’s rest sounds well-deserved. :)

Bless your heart, I would have completely freaked out,dissolved into tears and wallowed in self-pity for a couple of days. You are a trooper!
The new look is wonderful, and I hope your new host and your new start goes smoothly :D

Hey lady. I know we’ve talked about all this, but just wanted to send another little reminder to hang in there. The new blog looks absolutely perfect and today’s a new day. Keep designing and posting awesome content, because I know all your readers adore it.

I’m a firm believer that Ben & Jerry’s fixes all ills, or at least, puts them in perspective.
Moxee looks awesome-r than ever, way to pull through :-)

I would have freaked out too; I’ve totally been in your situation. I need to break up with 1&1 already.

The fresh site looks great though, I love the color scheme!

@LIZ – thanks girl, that means a lot from you. Breaking up is hard to do, but I feel so refreshed because I got rid of the horrible support/ backup I had. <33

i’m a newer follower to your blog and though i won’t be able to go back and read your old posts i’m sure the new ones will be much more exciting and just as amazing! i would have surely lost it if i lost my blog. if it matters for anything, this new one looks fabulous though ;)

Awwww. I’m so sorry. I love the new layout though. If you don’t mind me asking, what happens to the older post that got lost? Will they be reuploaded?

@JESSE – sadly, they wont be re-uploaded. Although I still have the image files, I’ve lost all the written content. :(

Duuuude. Really sorry to hear you lost everything. :( I had a major screw-up a few months back and basically killed all my images. I almost DIED. I still kick myself for doing it, but hey… life goes on, right? Way to hang positive and bounce back better than ever.

Sorry to hear that, but glad you’ve dealt with it and moved on so to say. I’d probably be curled up in a ball for at least two days! And the new design is beautiful as always.
